Seit Juni 2019 bietet die Plattform Raum für Geschichten, Perspektiven, Stimmen und Arbeiten von in Deutschland lebenden BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). Warum? Um der ‘Gefahr der einzigen Geschichte’* entgegenzuwirken. Es denken, schreiben, fotografieren, filmen, produzieren Kreative mit mehr als einer kulturellen oder nationalen Identität. Die Geschichten eröffnen das Leben in und mit den verschiedenen Kulturen, aber auch die Suche nach dem Platz in der Gesellschaft und gehen über Rassismuserfahrungen und Identitätsfragen hinaus. Die Contributors erzählen von Sofia Coppola, Kapitalismus, dem Verlust eines geliebten Menschen, dem Christopher Street Day, von toxischer Männlichkeit, Europa, von Liebe als Politikum, Mitteparteien, dem Klimawandel, der Filmindustrie. Öffentliche Diskurse werden aufgegriffen und aus der Perspektive der Contributors weiterentwickelt, neue Diskurse werden entfacht – mit dem Ziel, das dominante Narrativ abzulösen.

Since June 2019, heartxwork has featured the stories and work of BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) creatives, highlighting the diversity of their experiences through visual and written narration. Why? To escape “the danger of a single story.”* With their contributors, heartxwork conceptualises and produces written, photographic and filmic content, centering the lived experience of growing up as a non-white person in a white society. The featured stories go beyond the typical narratives of facing racism or searching for identity in mainstream German culture. They discuss topics as broad as Sofia Coppola, capitalism, the grief of losing someone you love, Christopher Street Day, toxic masculinity, Europe, love as a political act, climate change, and the movie industry. The intention? To challenge the misrepresentation of marginalised groups in the German media landscape by offering authentic content which goes beyond stereotypes and cliches.

Anna K. Baur wurde als Tochter einer deutschen Mutter und eines nigerianischen Vaters in Tübingen geboren. Nach Abschluss ihres Studiums der Soziologie, Germanistik und Geschichte an der Universität Köln war Anna K. Baur acht Jahre lang für das Blonde Magazin in Hamburg tätig, von 2011 bis 2017 als Chefredakteurin. Seit 2017 wohnt sie in Berlin und arbeitet als freie Redakteurin und Content Creator. Anna K. Baur ist Mitgründerin von heartxwork.

Joanna C. Schröder ist in Ruanda geboren und in Burkina Faso und Freiburg aufgewachsen. Nach dem Abschluss der European Studies an der Universität Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris hat sie mehrere Jahre in der Berliner Mode & PR-Branche gearbeitet. Zuletzt war Joanna C. Schröder als Redakteurin für das Blonde Magazin in Hamburg tätig. Seit 2017 wohnt sie wieder in Berlin, um unter dem Namen Joanna Legid als freie Fotografin und Content Creator zu arbeiten. Joanna C. Schröder ist Mitgründerin von heartxwork.

In kürzester Zeit hat sich über unsere Plattform eine Community gebildet, die Erfahrungen und Wissen austauscht, sich gegenseitig unterstützt und stärkt. Mit heartxwork stehen wir für eine Kultur des Miteinanders. Wir erzählen Geschichten aus diversen Perspektiven. Nicht über, sondern mit der jeweiligen demographischen Gruppe. Wir entwickeln Formate für Plattformen und Kanäle, produzieren Bilder, auch bewegte und konzipieren Real-Life Events. Immer mit der Prämisse Menschen und Situationen authentisch darzustellen – mit gegenseitigem Respekt, Vertrauen und viel Sensibilität. Unser Look-and-Feel bewegt sich zwischen dokumentarischem Stil und Subkultur-Ästhetik.
heartxwork wurde 2019 von Anna K. Baur und Joanna C. Schröder gegründet – mit Sitz in Berlin. Wir können: Ideation- und Konzeptentwicklung, Redaktion, Fotografie, Social Media Expertise, Kreativproduktion, Artdirektion, Casting. Je nach Projektbedarf arbeiten wir mit einem Netzwerk an Projektmanager*innen, Autor*innen, Fotograf*innen, Illustrator*innen, Grafikdesigner*innen, Musiker*innen und Filmschaffenden.

In just a short period of time, we have facilitated a community through our platform. Our contributors are able to exchange life experiences and empower each other. heartxwork stands for togetherness. We tell stories from different perspectives, not just about different demographics, but authored by those groups. We create and develop content for diverse platforms and channels. We produce words, images, videos, real-life events, social media content and more.
Our vision: To search for the truth and create authentic content. We have a creative yet sensitive approach to our projects. Our look and feel is a mixture of documentary and subculture aesthetic.
Our skills: We bring ideas to life by developing individualised creative concepts for our clients and work with our community to make them become reality. From producing treatments to organising shoots, social media management, creative direction, art direction, casting and more: we like to do it all. We love the challenge of creating unique and authentic content, sourcing creatives working across project management, writing, illustrating, photography, graphic design, music, directing, acting, et cetera from within the heartxwork network.
